Screen printing

Once designed, the pattern is scanned into the computer and printed out on transparencies. The printing screen is covered with photo-sensitive emulsion in a darkroom until dry. Then place the screen on top of the transparencies in a sealed light box for four minutes to burn the pattern into the emulsion. Rinse and dry screen for the pattern to come through. Mix desired colors, and pull the ink across the back of the screen with a squeegi over the fabric. Repeat across the fabric, then redo the process for the second color part of the pattern.

Product Information

This multi-positional chair demanded custom fabric, so I designed and printed a multi-toned pattern that pulled in the curvature of the piece.
